If the game was a mysterious island somewhere, then the teams would have to find their way from the Cape of Confusion, along the Isthmus of Inkling, to the sunny uplands of Certainty. It was Team Evil who hacked their way through the steaming questions to stand, alone, at the very summit. Mr Diarmid (Team Evil) showed real fingerspitzegefühl with his balloon bonnet, but could only achieve second place behind Mr Duncan’s ( Can I Have Some Money, Mummy?) whopping creation, which wouldn’t look out of place on balloon day at Royal Ascot. Mr Duncan’s bonnet was held in place by a red balloon chinstrap.
Mr Topher (Team Evil), looking every inch like Bluto reaching for Olive Oyl’s blouse buttons, won the tower of strength round in 05:49:05. He beat previous champion “The Mighty Atom” Mr Glen into second place. “ I is da kryptonite to his atom thing.” Cried Mr Topher, in an unpleasant display of triumphalism. After sterling work in the Fillet-O-Film and the Tortured Tune rounds, a very good evenings work was rounded off for Team Evil by some impressive blowing by Miss Ellen in The Kazoo Gang. It no doubt helped that Miss Ellen studied the instrument under Marcel Poupou at the Conservatoire in Paris. Team Evil won with 78 points. A moments commiseration must go to our runners up; Can I Have Some Money, Mummy? who lost by a single point, and took home the brass picture of a peregrine-style falcon.
