5th July 2009

With a full house of twelve teams, the third Funtime rollicked away like a puppy with a string of sausages. The inaugural Funtime balloon dog show was very well attended, with judge Betty awarding Mr. Glen’s (Crunch Time) “Little Belter” first prize for symmetry and good temperament. Several dogs burst before the judging, and our deepest condolences go out to the owners. The Tower of Strength round was won by Mr. ‘stone face’ Graham (Silence of the Trams) who wore the implacable expression of Charles Bronson at a bus stop throughout the competition. He must surely be ‘The great arm of Orme’ after setting a new Funtime record of 8:04:12,
an achievement that will stand for some time. We all relish the prospect of an ‘arm off’ between previous champion ‘the mighty atom’ and ‘the great arm of Orme’ at the next Funtime. First-timers Kinder Surprise showed great unity of purpose by attending in matching sports apparel, but sadly their challenge was hampered by consistently unusual thinking, and they came last.Despite the heroics of Mr.Graham and with a secret weapon for the I.D Parade, The Silence of the Trams came second with sixty-six points and secured the runners up prize of the ornamental log in solid silver metal. The winner team, and for the second time, was the magnificent Crunch Time with seventy-one points. They swept all before them like a Funtime Godzilla; with the other quiz teams as thousands of fleeing Japanese. Can anybody stop them? Find out on the 26th July!
Winners for the second time 'Crunch Time', hoist the Funtime trophy.
